The SYSTEM command (abbreviated SY) sets various strings and parameters. SYSTEM has the following parameters:

   SYSTEM (SY) [ [USERVERSION =] x.yy.zz]
                [ [LOGONPROMPT =] prompt string]
                [ [CIPROMPT =] prompt string]

USERVERSION allows the system manager to identify the system with a version meaningful to your environment. This might identify some combination of third-party products.

LOGONPROMPT sets the system prompt.

CIPROMPT sets the prompt used by the command interpreter.

Table 7-5 Default Values for SYSTEM Parameters shows the default values for the SYSTEM command parameters:

To set one of the parameters relating to the SYSTEM command, enter the command and at least one parameter to change. Here are two examples of the keyword and positional formats:

   misc>SYSTEM USERVERSION=A.A1.35

   misc>SYSTEM A.A1.35 150:

NOTE: A changed USERVERSION, as in the previous example, is lost if the MISC configurator information is saved to the group CONFIG.SYS. The ID information is retained if it is saved to any group other than CONFIG.SYS. To change user version, generate a system load tape (SLT) and update with it.
