When a DTC port is assigned a profile that has the field "Enable
Switching" set to Y
then the user will enter the DTC user interface when [RETURN]
is first pressed. While at the DTC user interface, the user can
enter several commands. The DTC user interface screen is used to
configure parameters that determine how this user interface behaves.

Figure 8-3 “DTC User Interface Screen” displays the DTC
User Interface screen. This screen is reached
by pressing [F3], the [DTC U I]
function key at the DTC Configuration screen. See the beginning
of this chapter to find how to access the [DTC U I]
function key.

Follow the steps listed here to enter data for this screen.
Refer to "Fields" subsection following these steps
for detailed information about each field on the screen.
"DTC name"
is a display-only field.
Enter the desired DTC user interface timeout period
(in seconds) in the "DTC user interface timeout"
field. The default is 300 seconds.
Enter the desired prompt in the "User prompt"
field. The default is DTC>.
(Optional) Complete the "Welcome message"
field.
After you have completed the necessary fields, press
the [Save Data] key.
Press the [Prior Screen]
key to return to the Tune DTC - Timer Selection screen.
Fields
- DTC name
A display-only field. The configuration applies
to the DTC whose name is shown.
- DTC user interface timeout
Specifies the inactivity time before the terminal
connection to the DTC user interface is automatically disconnected.
This timeout applies only to those ports that have the "DTC user interface timeout?"
field enabled on the Terminal Switching Configuration screen (Figure 7-3 “Terminal Switching Configuration
Screen”). The timer is inactive
during a terminal connection to a system via the DTC and reactivates
after you log off and return to the DTC user interface. Valid values
range from 5 to 300 seconds. The default is 300 seconds.
- User prompt
Sets the prompt displayed at the DTC user interface.
Only terminal ports with switching capability will see this prompt.
Terminal ports without switching capability are connected directly
to the host system and bypass the DTC user interface. The prompt
is one line long, a maximum of 16 characters, and is case-sensitive.
The default is DTC>.
- Welcome message
Optional field which specifies the message displayed
when the DTC user interface is first opened or when a STATUS
command is issued at the DTC user interface. Text entered can be
a maximum of 400 characters and is case-sensitive. Control characters
can be entered as ^char.
A line break in the message can be added by embedding the control
character sequence "^j^m"
in the text.
