COMMUNICATOR 3000 MPE MPE/iX RELEASE 4.0
XL Release 2.2, 3.0, and 3.1 Support Termination
by Amy Blocher
Commercial Systems Division
MPE/iX Release 4.0, which is the first Software Platform Release to be
introduced by Hewlett-Packard, provides an extremely stable release. Now
tha it has been distributed to every support customer who is entitled to
software updates, the support life for previous MPE/iX releases will soon
terminate.
The support life of a release is dependent on its distribution type. XL
Release 2.2, which was distributed to the entire MPE/iX installed base,
is supported until 12 months after MPE/iX Release 4.0 is distributed.
This means that Hewlett-Packard support for XL Release 2.2 terminates on
October 1, 1993.
XL Release 3.0 and 3.1, which were not distributed to the entire MPE/iX
installed base, is supported until 3 months after MPE/iX Release 4.0 is
distributed. That is, XL Release 3.0 and 3.1 are no longer supported by
Hewlett-Packard after January 1, 1993.
If you are currently using any of these releases, you should update your
systems to MPE/iX Release 4.0 before Hewlett-Packard discontinues support
of these releases.
