Data in an SNA node configuration file must correspond to information from the host configuration. So, before using NMMGR, you should have certain information from the host configuration.

The host information that corresponds to SNA node configuration information for SNA/SDLC links, SNA/X.25 links, and SNA/Token Ring links is described below.

SNA/SDLCMUX Information

For the host and the HP e3000 to communicate, you must coordinate the SNA/SDLCMUX node configuration with the ACF/NCP and ACF/VTAM host configurations. The HP SNA Products Remote System Configuration Guide explains these configurations. Table 2-1 "Host ACF/NCP and ACF/VTAM Values for SDLCMUX" shows the relationships between items from the host configuration and items in the SNA node configuration file for an SNA/SDLCMUX link. Each NMMGR screen field is described later in this chapter.

SNA/X.25 Information

For the host and the HP e3000 to communicate, you must coordinate the SNA/X.25 node configuration with the host configuration. The HP SNA Products Remote System Configuration Guide explains this configuration.

Table 2-2 "Host Macro Values for X.25 Link PVC" shows the relationships between items from the host configuration and items in the SNA node configuration file for permanent virtual circuits (PVCs). Each NMMGR screen field is described later in this chapter.

Table 2-4 "Host Macro Values for X.25 System Access" shows the relationships between items from the host configuration and items in the X.25 System Access configuration. The HP SNA Products Remote System Configuration Guide explains the host configuration. See the appropriate NS documentation for more information about the X.25 System Access configuration.

Note that once the facility set to be used by SNA/X.25 Link is specified in the INDEX operand of the X25.OUFT host macro, it must also be referenced by the OUFINDX operand of the X25.LINE host macro.

Table 2-5 "Host Macro Values for DTC Manager (X.25)" shows the relationship between items from the host configuration and items in the DTC Manager configuration. The HP SNA Products Remote System Configuration Guide explains the host configuration. See the appropriate DTC documentation for more information about the DTC Manager configuration through OpenView.

NOTE: Although it is not an X.25 standard requirement, we recommend that the value specified in the Window Size field match the VWINDOW operand of the X25.VCCPT host macro.

Table 2-6 "Host Macro Values for DTS Configuration (X.25)" shows the relationship between items from the host configuration and items in the DTS configuration (for NS host-based network management). The HP SNA Products Remote System Configuration Guide explains the host configuration. See the appropriate NS host-based network management documentation for more information about the DTS configuration through OpenView.

SNA/Token Ring Information

For the host and the HP e3000 to communicate, you must coordinate the SNA/Token Ring node configuration with the ACF/NCP and ACF/VTAM host configurations. The HP SNA Products Remote System Configuration Guide explains these configurations. Table 2-7 "Host Macro Values for Token Ring" shows the relationships between items from the host configuration and items in the SNA node configuration file for an SNA/Token Ring link. Each NMMGR screen field is described later in this chapter.
