Messages Sent to the Action Summary Report/Operator Console 

The messages explained in this section are those that are written to the
"Action Summary Report" and/or sent to the Operator Console, exclusive of
file transfer errors.  File transfer error messages are addressed in the
next section.

|   1201   | PSMON error: cannot get schedule info from PSMDBSP, return status is  |

|          | PSMON error:  fail to get schedule from PSMDBSP                       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Meaning:  Failure to get information from PSMDBP program is an |
|          |        internal error.  Either the OPSDB cannot be opened or it       |
|          |        contains incorrect information.  The PSMDBSP aborted or there  |
|          |        is a diagnostic subsystem problem.                             |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Action:  Make sure the next scheduled run does not conflict    |
|          |        with a STORE. If the problems recurs, contact the HP Response  |
|          |        Center.                                                        |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |        If other PSMON error messages end up in an ASR, try running    |
|          |        the job again while making sure that a store is not in         |
|          |        progress.  If you still get errors, contact the HP Response    |
|          |        Center.                                                        |
|          |                                                                       |

|   2301   | Predictive run not started. Error ! opening ! &                       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Meaning:  HP Predictive Support may be competing for files     |
|          |        with a STORE. This message is usually followed by message      |
|          |        8117, and displays one of the following error message numbers: |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |           *   4:  The file cannot be be opened (store is running).    |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |           *   11:  The file is not the right type (PSASFILE and       |
|          |               PSRNLOGD must be circular files).  To check, perform a  |
|          |               LISTF, 2 for either file.  The file type displayed      |
|          |               should be FAO.                                          |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Action:                                                        |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |           *   Correct the problem, if possible.                       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |           *   Run HP Predictive Support again, or let it resume its   |
|          |               normal schedule.                                        |
|          |                                                                       |

|   8100   | Unknown predictive internal error in PSMON                            |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Meaning:  An error internal to the HP Predictive Support       |
|          |        software has occurred.                                         |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Action:  Contact the HP Response Center.  If necessary, the HP |
|          |        Response Center will request remote diagnostics and examine    |
|          |        PSRNLOGD for details.                                          |

|          |        one of the utilities was stopped because a psconfig "Stop      |
|          |        Predictive" command was issued.                                |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Action:  None.                                                 |
|          |                                                                       |

|   8103   | There is no valid code word from code word request, Predictive run    |
|          | ended                                                                 |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Meaning:  A code word request was generated.  However, either  |
|          |        the download of the code word has failed or the code word that |
|          |        was downloaded was not correct.  HP Predictive Support cannot  |
|          |        run.                                                           |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Action:  Contact the HP Response Center.                       |
|          |                                                                       |

|   8104   | Predictive transfer was terminated by STOP command                    |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Meaning:  This is an informational message indicating that the |
|          |        current file transfer process was terminated because a         |
|          |        psconfig "Stop Predictive" command was issued.                 |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Action:  None.                                                 |
|          |                                                                       |

|   8105   | Predictive transfer cannot be completed; datacomm is disabled         |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Meaning:  This is intended as a warning that the file transfer |
|          |        capability has been disabled, and as such, no file transfers   |
|          |        can be initiated.                                              |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Action:  If the file transfer capability is supposed to be     |
|          |        enabled, go to the "Configure Transfer" menu of psconfig and   |
|          |        enable Item 1, "TRANSFER."                                     |
|          |                                                                       |

|          |    *   Meaning:  This is an informational message indicating that the |
|          |        current run of HP Predictive Support was terminated because a  |

|          |    *   Action:  None.                                                 |
|          |                                                                       |

|          |    *   Meaning:  An error occurred during one of the HP Predictive    |

|          |    *   Action:  Contact the HP Response Center.                       |
|          |                                                                       |

|   8112   | Predictive Monitor failed to launch !1 UTILITY because of error       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Meaning:  PSMON, the Predictive monitor, failed to launch the  |
|          |        specified utility.  This usually indicates a problem within    |
|          |        the HP Predictive Support software.                            |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Action:  Contact the HP Response Center.                       |
|          |                                                                       |

|   8116   | End of Predictive fault analysis                                      |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |    *   Meaning:  This is an informational message, indicating that    |

|                   |        approval to transfer at the system console.  (This request     |
|                   |        originated from either a previous run of HP Predictive Support |
|                   |        or an interactively initiated file transfer.)  This indicates  |
|                   |        that the "request approval before transfer" field in psconfig  |
|                   |        is set to "Yes."                                               |
|                   |                                                                       |
|                   |    *   Action:  If customer cannot reply to the request, set the      |
|                   |        "request approval before transfer" field to "No."              |

|                   |    *   Action:  None.                                                 |

|          |                                accessed by performing listf PSASFILE, |
|          |                                3.                                     |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |                            *   If not, re-initiate the command to     |
|          |                                print the report.                      |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |                            *   If problems persist, contact the HP    |
|          |                                Response Center.                       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |        -655             The destination device is not available       |
|          |                         (FCHECK 55).                                  |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |                                                                       |
|          |                            *   Go to the psconfig "Configuration      |
|          |                                Reports" menu and check the output     |
|          |                                destination for the "Action Summary    |
|          |                                Report."                               |

|          |                            *   If the destination is valid, contact   |
|          |                                the HP Response Center.                |

|          |        -640             The operation being performed is inconsistent |
|          |                         with the access type (FCHECK 40).             |
|          |                                                                       |

|          |                            *   Perform a listf PSASFILE,3 and         |
|          |                                determine whether it is a circular     |
|          |                                file (the FOPTIONS should have CIRC).  |

|          |                            *   If the file appears to be correct,     |
|          |                                contact the HP Response Center.        |
