HP Predictive Support User's Guide For HP 3000 Series 900
Phase 2: Verifying the System Requirements
* The site must meet all of the requirements for electronic file
transfer. See "Phase 4: Checking the Electronic File Transfer
Requirements."
* There must be a DTC with a free port for the modem, accessible by
the system, or a LAN console port.
* The system must have at least 100K sectors of free disk space for
the installation; 75K sectors for daily operation.
_________________________________________________________________
NOTE The "two disk drive" requirement applies to initial
installations and update installations that are conducted
outside of the IT (Installation Tape) process.

* HP Predictive Support requires electronic file transfer capability
to inform the HP Response Center of identified events, and should
not be installed on systems where this is not allowed.
* The HP Response Center, with prior approval, must be allowed to
dial into the system when remote diagnostics are required to
resolve a problem.
System Impact and Performance
HP Predictive Support runs as a system process under MPE/iX. It resides
in the PRED group of the SYS account (that is, PRED.SYS).
Its size and impact on the system are:
* Size of Software: approximately 75K sectors, disk resident, but
requires 100K sectors of free space at installation.
* Modem File Transfer Time: rate is about 210 bytes per second at
2400 baud.
* To the Response Center - approximately 1 - 5 minutes
* From the Response Center
* 2 to 3 minutes per ruleset download
* 1 to 3 minutes per code word transfer (plus up to an
additional five minutes may be required for code
word processing by RC Predictive)
