Open Local Command

The Open Local command appears under the File menu.

[]
Figure 10-42. Open Local Command The Open Local command opens a local logfile. Opening a logfile makes it available for the Draw Graphs command. Local logfiles are files that have been created using the HP LaserRX/MPE EXTRACT program. Local logfiles reside on a disc known to MS-DOS (that is, the PC's hard or flexible disc, CD-ROM disc, or on a resource sharing disc). (Remember that logfiles must be transferred as binary files.) A maximum of five logfiles can be open at one time. The list of open logfiles appears in the dialog box of the Draw Graphs command. Use the options in the Open Local dialog box to select and open a logfile.

Figure 10-43. Open Local Dialog Box * Filename. Use the Filename box to type in the name of a file that will be opened. Text can be scrolled in the Filename box. The .PRF file extension is the convention established for HP LaserRX/MPE logfiles. You can open and display measurement data from an HP LaserRX/MPE logfile with a different file extension, but the file name will not be displayed in the Files list box. * Files. The Files list box lists all files in the current directory with a .PRF extension. You can select a file from this list or use the Directories list box to look at .PRF files in other directories. When you click on a file from the Files list box, the name appears in the Filename box. * Directories. The Directories box lists all MS-DOS discs and directories available to you. The current directory is listed above the Directories list box. If you double-click on another disc or directory, the list of files in the Files list box displays the .PRF files in the new disc or directory and the Directory line reflects the new current directory. * Logfile Info. Click on the Logfile Info button to find out more information about a logfile highlighted in the Filename box.
