Figure 10-15. Connect LAN Command The Connect LAN command establishes a LAN link between HP LaserRX/MPE and a specific HP 3000 containing the logfiles you want to access and logs you in to the target HP 3000 host. A link may be established to a target HP 3000 host through intermediate HP 3000s as required. When you select the Connect LAN command, you get the Connect LAN dialog box.
[]
Figure 10-16. Connect LAN Dialog Box The Connect LAN dialog box contains whatever default connection specifications you have provided through the LAN Connect command under the Configure menu. You can override the defaults before you process the Connect LAN command. Use this dialog box to issue a logon command to connect you to an HP 3000 over a LAN. * Hello. Enter a logon string up to 72 characters long. Passwords are masked and encrypted in the WIN.INI file. If you omit a required password, the connection fails. * Node. Enter the node name of the HP 3000 to which you will connect. Use the LAN Connect command under the Configure menu to create LAN connect defaults. Regardless of any connections made external to HP LaserRX/MPE, the File Connect LAN command will attempt to issue a logon command to the designated HP 3000 and establish a connection.
NOTE Make sure that the HP OfficeShare Network software was loaded before Windows was started. If it was not, exit Windows, load the HP OfficeShare Network software, restart Windows, and then start HP LaserRX/MPE. Otherwise the File Connect LAN command will fail.
