Chapter 6 Displaying Performance Data
Once you have opened an HP LaserRX/MPE logfile, you can use the Draw
Graphs command and commands under the HP LaserRX/MPE Zoom menu to help
you focus on the data that interests you. You can make several choices:
* Metrics.
* You can choose to display graphs of system-wide (global),
disc space, or application-specific measurements.
* You can choose to display graphs showing several types of
performance measurements (such as CPU, response time, or
disc measurements).
* You can choose to display specific performance measurements
in tabular form for applications and processes.
* Period.
* You can choose the time period on which to focus--a day, a
week, a month, or a year--and where it starts in the
logfile.
* You can choose not to display periods that are not of
interest to you. Weekends can be ignored, and the hours
that make up the typical active day for your system can be
specified.
* Summary level.
* You can choose to display data points that reflect the
activity for a collection interval of 5 minutes, 1 hour, or
1 day.
This chapter explains how to use HP LaserRX/MPE's display functions to
make your choices and provides some hints for effective examination of
the data.
For detailed information about the commands and options described in this
chapter, see Chapter 10 .
