Opening Remote Logfiles
A connection between the PC and an HP 3000 must be made before you can
open a remote logfile. See Chapter 4 for information on connecting.
Once connected to the host HP 3000, you can open any HP LaserRX/MPE
logfile residing there.
When you do connect to the host HP 3000, you are advised to log in to
SCOPE.SYS. Logging in to any other group prevents MPE V systems from
finding the remote data communications library. This will only work if a
copy of SL.SCOPE.SYS is made in the logon group.
This is not recommended since you would have to remember to repeat this
copy with every HP LaserRX/MPE software update.
To Open a Remote Logfile
1. Open the File menu and select Open Remote.

NOTE Open Remote is dimmed if you are not connected to an HP 3000
through HP LaserRX/MPE.

The following dialog box appears on the screen:

2. Enter the logfile name.
The file can be either an extracted logfile or a raw logfile.
(RXLOG.SCOPE.SYS, the default output file name used by EXTRACT, is
supplied as a default.) You can enter a different path if you
want a logfile that is not in SCOPE.SYS.
a. To open an extracted logfile, enter the name of any logfile
created by EXTRACT.
b. To open the HP LaserRX/MPE raw logfiles, enter LOGGLOB.
3. Optionally, click the Logfile Info button to get information about
the logfile listed in the Filename box. See "Logfile Info Option"
for details about the Logfile Info screen.
4. Click OK to complete the Open Remote command and close the dialog
box.
You can open a maximum of five logfiles--local and/or remote--during any
one session of HP LaserRX/MPE.
