Automatic Connection

You can use the Auto Connect option on the Configure Options dialog box
to have HP LaserRX/MPE automatically connect you to one host HP 3000 upon
startup. This connection can be either serial or LAN, but not both.

NOTE These constraints apply to automatic connection only. Otherwise, your PC can be connected through HP LaserRX/MPE to up to five systems at a time (five LAN connections or one serial and four LAN connections). Note that only one serial connection can be made at a time.
Use the Auto Connect and Auto Connect Selection options on the Options dialog box (Configure menu) in conjunction with the Configure Serial Connect and Configure LAN Connect dialog boxes, as explained in the following procedure.
[]
Figure 4-5. Automatic LAN Connection Make the following selections on the Options dialog box: 1. Enable Auto Connect. Click on the selection box to enable Auto Connect. A check mark appears in the box indicating the option is enabled. (Click on a selection box again to disable an option. The check mark disappears.) 2. Choose either LAN or Serial on the Auto Connect Selection option. 3. Click Save to use these settings for this HP LaserRX/MPE session and save them as defaults for future sessions. If the Auto Connect option is enabled when you start HP LaserRX/MPE, the program attempts to connect the PC to a designated HP 3000 by initiating either the default LAN or default serial configuration. Which one it initiates depends on what is checked in the Auto Connect Selection option. See "Auto Connect Option" for more details. You set the default LAN connection through the Configure LAN Connect command. You set the default serial connection through the Configure Serial Connect command. See "To Set Serial Connect Defaults" and "To Set LAN Connect Defaults" in this chapter.
