Setting up a Welcome Banner
You can choose to display a Welcome Banner to users whenever they sign on
to HP Desk. This banner is only available on the machine that you set it
up on. It is displayed directly after the HP Desk identifier and
copyright banner, which is:
HP DeskManagerPLUS (B.05.00)
(c) COPYRIGHT Hewlett-Packard Limited 1982,1991
The Welcome Banner could be anything you want users to see before going
into HP Desk, such as your company logo, computer identifier, or latest
information for users, for example saying that a Mailmaint will be run at
7:30pm. This feature is similar to the WELCOME message in MPE. An
example is shown below.

This is a new version of the HP Desk office system.

There are two methods of creating a Welcome banner:
1. Tailor an example file. There is an example Welcome Banner
provided to make it easy to adapt to your needs.
Use a text editor, such as TDP/3000, to edit the file
WELCOME.MAILLIB.HPOFFICE.
The example file is a USASCII text file, and you can put anything
you like in the file and it can be any length.
To install the file, copy it into the MAILCONF group of the
HPOFFICE account, retaining the filename WELCOME.
2. Work from new. Alternatively, you can create a USASCII text file
named WELCOME in MAILCONF group of the HPOFFICE account.
If the file WELCOME.MAILCONF.HPOFFICE exists (or is file-equated), the HP
Desk Welcome Banner will be displayed every time a user enters HP Desk.
The WELCOME file is an ordinary 80 byte ASCII file.
