HP DeskManager User Reference Guide

Sending Non-HP Desk Items

You can use HP Desk to send files that have not been created within HP
Desk. For example, spreadsheets and Gallery files. These files cannot
be displayed within HP Desk. To display the files, the recipient will
have to copy these files out of HP Desk. Be sure that the recipient has
the appropriate application software to display the file. For example,
if you are sending a spreadsheet, has the recipient got that spreadsheet
application?

To send a Non-HP Desk file:

Type SEND followed by the name of the file. If the file is not held in
the group or account you are working in, remember to type the group and
account names. For example:

     Outtray > SEND (editdoc) Return

Outtray > SEND (tdpdoc.mygroup.myacct) TO "team" Return

The filename must be enclosed in parentheses.

To send the text from a TDP/3000 or Edit/3000
file:

   * At the area prompt type COPY FROM followed by the name of the file
in brackets and press Return. For example:

Workarea > COPY FROM (tdpfile) Return

HP Desk asks if you want to copy the text of the document. Type
       YES Return

   * At the area prompt type COPY TEXT FROM followed by the name of the
file in brackets and press Return. For example:

Workarea > COPY TEXT FROM (tdpfile) Return

HP Desk asks for a new name for the Text document, which now has no
TDP/3000 (or Edit/3000) characteristics, so you can now send this
document and HP Desk will be able to display it.
