The Security String(s) Configuration screen (#110) supplies the security string required by the dial ID protocol for the node you are configuring. Note that the security string is not required if dial ID protocol is not enabled. This screen, shown in Figure 10-7 "Security String(s) Configuration Screen", is displayed if you press the [Go to SECURITY] function key at the preceding Dial ID Protocol Configuration screen (Figure 10-6 "Dial ID Protocol Configuration Screen"). It is also displayed when you type:

@NETXPORT.NI.NIname.PROTOCOL.DIAL.SECURITY

in the command window of any screen and press the [Enter] key, where NIname is the configured gateway half NI.

Press the [Save Data] function key to transfer the data displayed on the screen to the configuration file you are creating or updating. Verify that the data record has been created by checking that the Data flag is set to Y.

Fields

Configured security strings

Enter the security string that remote nodes must use to gain dial link access to the node you are configuring. The string can contain up to eight alphanumeric characters, left justified, with no embedded blanks.

Default value: HP

    NOTE: To delete a security string, blank out the field that contains the string you want deleted, and press [Save Data].
