Organization

The information in this course has been organized into separately bound modules.

The modules are organized into lessons. Each lesson gives practical examples and activities that can be tried on the computer. The exercises at the end of each lesson direct you to try things on the system in order to reinforce important concepts presented in the lesson. The answers to all of the exercises can be found in the "Solutions Guide".

Modules are numbered 1 through 6. All modules begin with a challenge test. The challenge test helps you determine if you need to study the entire module, study parts of it, or skip the module entirely. If you choose to skip certain lessons or modules, note that later modules refer to files created in earlier modules.

Procedure

  • Use each module challenge test to decide which lessons you should cover in that module.

  • Begin each selected lesson by reading the lesson introduction. Try out the examples, and do all the exercises in that lesson.

  • The exercises at the end of each lesson reinforce the important concepts presented in the lesson.
