Recall that, in this manual, "serial device" refers to any of the following DTC connected devices:

  • Terminals.

  • Serial printers.

  • PCs (in terminal emulation mode).

  • Plotters.

Serial device problems can be caused by the system, by application software, by faults within the device or DTC connections, or by the LAN hardware. Procedures for troubleshooting all possible faults are beyond the scope of this manual. Instead, the manual focuses on checking for simple faults at the device and testing the DTC and DTC-terminal connections.
