Tool to check the syntax of the named configuration file

Interactive tool to query name servers

nsupdate(1)

Utility to update the DNS dynamically
rndc-confgen(1) Tool to generate the rndc key

rndc(1)

Utility to control the name server control
dig(1) Tool to interrogate DNS servers

hosts_to_named(1M)

Command to translate host table to name server file format
lwresd(1M) Daemon to provide name lookup services to clients that use the BIND 9 lightweight resolver library

named(1M)

Daemon that reads the BIND configuration file, /etc/named.conf for initial data on resource records, and listens for queries. The named daemon is the Internet domain name server, and it requires superuser privileges to execute.
sig_named(1M) Daemon that send signals to the domain name server
