Chapter 5 Performance Management Tools HP Predictive Support Enhancements by John Ediger Worldwide Response Center Operations Product Overview If you have an Hewlett-Packard Hardware and Software Support Agreement, HP Predictive Support provides proactive hardware support by monitoring disk drives, system memory, and tape drives. When the HP Predictive Support software detects a potential problem, it transmits a message to the HP Response Center. The Response Center portion of the system stores and screens the data, forwarding problems requiring further analysis to a Response Center Engineer. If onsite action is necessary, the Response Center Engineer informs the account Customer Engineer, who will work with you until the problem is resolved. Enhancements This version includes the past few updates and patches to HP Predictive Support including support for the latest high-end systems and several new disk drives such as the C2258/59X HP-FL disk arrays and the C3010 disks. Other enhancements include a new site inventory module, which is a tool used by Hewlett-Packard support personnel to support systems by determining the applications that are currently on a system.
