BACKUP

The BACKUP command lets you back up shared disc files to reel-to-reel,
cartridge, or digital audio tape.

Abbreviation:  BACK

Where used:  DISC>

BACKUP {sharename}[/password]{pattern}[...,pattern]
       {pathname }

sharename Sharename representing the path to the files you want to
                 back up.

pathname With SM or NM capability, you can enter the physical
                 path instead of the sharename for the location of the
                 files you want to back up.

password Password associated with the sharename, if any.

pattern Filename pattern you want the program to follow in
                 selecting shared disc files to save. You can also use
                 an indirect file of patterns by typing ^filename.

If you are logged on to the group containing the shared disc to be backed
up, you need not specify a path or sharename.

If you want to back up a single file, enter the filename rather than a
pattern. For example, to back up the file TEST1 on a shared disc with a
sharename of JOAN and a password of JLL, type:

     BACKUP JOAN/JLL TEST1

To back up the entire shared disc, enter:

BACKUP {sharename}[/password] \
       {pathname }
