HP Resource Sharing for MPE/iX
Removing Shares
RESMGR provides the Remove Share function so you can remove your shared
discs from network availability. Removing shares does not delete any
existing files. You'll use Remove Share to perform these functions:
* Disallow access to your shared disc.
* Remove shares from a disc you are about to delete. Deleting a
shared disc does not delete the shares.
You cannot remove an active share.
If you have SM or NM capabilities, you can remove shares in any group in
any account on the system.
NOTE Be sure to remove shares from your shared disc before deleting the
disc. If you don't, users trying to connect to a deleted disc will
see an error message telling them the shared disc doesn't exist.
However, if you want to remove all the files from a shared disc,
you can delete it and re-create it without removing and re-creating
the shares.
To remove shares from a shared disc:
1. Access the RESMGR main screen, then choose Share f2.
2. Choose Remove Share f4.
RESMGR prompts:
Sharename to remove ('//' to cancel)?
3. Enter the sharename to the shared disc from which you are removing
shares. RESMGR checks the disc for activity and gives an error
message if it is in use.
RESMGR prompts:
Password?
4. Enter the share password, if any. Entering an invalid password or
not entering an existing password generates an error message and
prevents you from removing the share.
If the Remove Share is successful, RESMGR tells you:
Share of sharename has been removed.
