HP Resource Sharing for MPE/iX
Displaying the Share Status
You can display the status of available shares in the group to which you
are logged on. If you have SM or NM capabilities, the Share Status will
show the status of all shares on the system. If you have AM capability,
the Share Status will show the status of all shares in your account.
* If you use the Share Status function label, you will see share
permissions, sharenames, pathnames, and the node names associated
with each connection.
* If you use RESMGR's commands to display Share Status, you can
specify options to examine share passwords, activity, and current
connections (see Chapter 11, "Resource Manager Commands").
To display the Share Status:
1. Access the main RESMGR screen, then choose Share f1.
2. Choose Share Status f5. To cancel the display, press CTRLY.
Here is an example of a Share Status display:

R-- ANNA \OAKACCT\OAKGROUP\SUBDIR ANNASMITH.NODE
Access Permissions associated with each of the currently
shared resources:
R = read
W = write
C = create
- = none
* = not applicable
In the sample screen above, the first shared
resource is a printer. Its access status indicates
that permissions are not applicable. Once the
System Manager has shared a printer, any user on
the network can access it, provided the user has a
password to the device. The second shared resource
is a shared disc with a sharename of JOAN. It has
access permission of RWC (Read, Write, Create).
The third shared resource is a share to a
subdirectory with a sharename of ANNA. This
subdirectory is available for read access only.
Sharename User-defined name for the physical path to shared
devices and discs. In the sample screen above,
LASERJET is the sharename for a shared printer.
JOAN is a sharename representing a path to a shared
disc. ANNA is a sharename representing a path to a
subdirectory of the shared disc called JOAN.
Path Name Connection path of each shared disc in the account.
In the example, the shared disc has a pathname of
\OAKACCT\OAKGROUP, identifying the connection path
to the disc's root directory. The connection path
of \OAKACCT\OAKGROUP is associated with the
sharename of JOAN.
Name Using Node names of active connections to shared discs,
printers, and plotters. Each computer on the
network has a node name that identifies it to the
other computers. In the example, a user is
connected to the shared disc from the computer
whose node name is JOANHART.NODE.
