RENAME 

The RENAME command lets you rename a file on a shared disc.  The first
filename can specify a path, but the second cannot.  The file remains in
the same subdirectory.

Abbreviation:  REN

RENAME [drive:] [\path\]filename newfilename 

drive:           Drive containing the file you are renaming.

path             Any valid DOS pathname to the file you want to rename.

filename         Name of the file you want to rename.

newfilename      New name for the file.  No pathname is permitted.  The
                 file remains in the same path and subdirectory as before
                 its name was changed.

For example, to rename the shared disc file FILE5 in the FORMS
subdirectory to a file called FILE6, enter:

     RENAME \FORMS\FILE5 FILE6
