HP Predictive Support CE Guide For HP 3000 Series 900
Configuring the Satellite Node(s)
1. Go to the terminal on the satellite node.
2. Type run nmmgr.pub.sys.
3. Go to the Guided Configuration screen.
4. Enter a name for the network interface to the network in the NI
name: field.
In our example, this is lan1 for a LAN network.
5. If the network interface is not configured, enter the value that
corresponds to the type of network the satellite nodes are
connected to in the If the NI is new, enter the number that
corresponds to its type field.
In our example, this is 1 to indicate a LAN network.
6. Press Config Network. This displays the LAN Configuration screen.
You do not need to enter any information on this screen. It is
assumed that your LAN network has already been installed and
configured.
7. Press Neighbor Gateways. This displays the Neighbor Gateways
screen.
_________________________________________________________________
NOTE If the customer already has a gateway set up for another
network, a new neighbor gateway entry does not need to be
added. However, you may need to enter the remote network's
IP address to the list of reachable networks for the
gateway.
_________________________________________________________________
8. Enter a name for the Predictive Gateway Node in the Gateway name
field. The name entered here can be any name that you choose to
represent the Predictive Gateway Node.
In our example, this is rcpgtwy.
9. Press Add to add a new neighbor gateway entry.
_________________________________________________________________
NOTE Press Modify if the customer already has a gateway set up to
another network.
_________________________________________________________________
10. Enter the LAN Network IP address of the Predictive Gateway Node in
the Neighbor Gateway IP Internet Address field.
In our example, the Predictive Gateway Node's LAN Network IP
address is A 111 111.111.222.
11. Enter the IP address(es) of the remote network(s) that can be
reached through the Predictive Gateway Node (which is acting as
the gateway) in the Configured Reachable Networks IP Network
Address field.
Only the internet portion of the network address is significant
for this field. The node portion must be entered; however, it may
be set to all zeros. In our example, the remote network is the
LAN network and the LAN network's IP address is B 122.222 000.000.
12. Enter 1 in the Hops field.
For this application, any value can be entered here.
13. Press Save Data to save the configuration data.
14. Go to the Validate Configuration File screen and validate the
configuration changes.
15. Exit Guided Configuration.
16. Press Prior screen until you get to the Open
Configuration/Directory File screen.
17. If the network directory already exists, press Open Directory.
If the network directory does not exists, press Create Directory
to create the directory.
18. Press Update Dir. This displays the Network Directory Select Node
Name screen.
19. Enter the name of the HP Response Center Node in the Node Name
field. The satellite node needs to know the identity of the HP
Response Center Node.
In our example, this is predict.x25.hp which is the name of the HP
Response Center Node.
20. Press Add. This displays the Network Directory Data screen.
21. Enter the X.25 Network IP address of the HP Response Center Node
in the IP Address field.
In our example, this is B 122.222 222.050.
22. Enter 1 in the Type field for the IP access.
23. Press Save Data to save the changes.
If the Predictive Gateway Node is not already configured as part of the
network,
1. Press Prior screen to get back to the Network Directory Select
Node Name screen.
2. Enter the name of the gateway that is on the same network as the
satellite node in the Node Name field. The satellite node needs
to know the identity of any neighbor gateway node.
In our example for the HP 3000, this is predgtwy.lan.cust which is
the name of the HP 3000 Predictive Gateway Node.
3. Press Add. This displays the Network Directory Data screen.
4. Enter the LAN Network IP address of the Predictive Gateway Node in
the IP Address field.
In our example, this is A 111 111.111.222.
