Export Window Command

The Export Window command appears under the File menu.

[]
Figure 10-31. Export Window Command The Export Window command copies logfile records from a graph to a spreadsheet (Lotus 1-2-3), data file, or TIFF file for other programs to use. The files can be created on any disc recognized by MS-DOS. When you select the Export Window command, the following Export Window dialog box appears.
[]
Figure 10-32. Export Window Dialog Box * Filename. Type in the name of the file (existing or new) to which the exported data is written. Alternatively, locate and select an existing file with the Files and Directories list boxes. * Files. The Files list box contains file names within the current directory that have a file extension of .WKS (if the File Type option is Spreadsheet), .DAT (if the File Type option is Data File), or .TIF (if the File Type option is TIFF). When you click on a file name in the Files list box, it appears in the Filename box. * Directories. The Directories list box contains directory names. When you double-click on a directory name, it is highlighted and it becomes the current directory. The Files list box is also updated. * Headings. The Headings check box is used to designate that records containing a title and column headings are written as the first records in the file. If the window selected for export is a graph, the heading records will contain the graph title and names identifying each variable in the graph. If the window selected for export is a table, the heading records will contain the table title and all column headings in the tabular window selected. * File Type. The File Type option box is used to choose the format of the file you are creating. You have three choices: * Spreadsheet is the Lotus 1-2-3 format. HP LaserRX/MPE assigns a .WKS extension for a spreadsheet file unless you provide your own. HP LaserRX/MPE assigns variable cell widths. Each cell is wide enough to hold the HP LaserRX/MPE column-header, table entry, graph variable value or name. The minimum cell width assigned is nine characters. * Data File is in ASCII file format. HP LaserRX/MPE will assign a .DAT extension for a data file unless you provide your own. This ASCII format is compatible with statistical analysis programs such as SAS. * TIFF File is in a .TIF graphics file format. HP LaserRX/MPE will assign a .TIF extension for a graphics file unless you provide your own. This TIFF format is compatible with many word processing programs. Use the OK button to confirm your choices, clear the dialog box, and change the cursor to a cross pointer. Use the pointer to click on the graph or table to export. If you select an HP LaserRX/MPE graph window for export, the range of data transferred to the exported file is determined by the width of the graph window (its X-Axis). The number of values for each column in the spreadsheet is a function of this range and the summary level (Points Every option) selected when the graph was displayed. If you select an HP LaserRX/MPE tabular window for export, all values contained in the table are exported (in the same row and column sequence) to the file. The data transfer is not limited by what can be seen of the table in the tabular window. Any values expressed in minutes are converted to seconds.
