Export Logfile Command
The Export Logfile command appears under the File menu.
Figure 10-28. Export Logfile Command
Use the Export Logfile command to export more data than can be shown in
an export window. The Export Logfile command is dimmed unless a logfile
is open.
When you invoke this command, you see the following dialog box:
Figure 10-29. Export Logfile Dialog Box
This dialog box contains the following options:
* Filename.
Type in the name of the file (existing or new) to which the
exported data is written. Alternatively, locate and select an
existing file with the Files and Directories list boxes.
* Extension.
This is the extension assigned to the exported file.
* Directory.
The current directory.
* Files.
The Files list box contains file names within the current
directory that have a file extension of .WKS (if the File Type
option is Spreadsheet) or .DAT (if the File Type option is Data
File).
When you click on a file name in the Files list box, it appears in
the Filename box.
* Directories.
The Directories list box contains directory names. When you
double-click on a directory name it is highlighted. It becomes
the current directory and the Files list box is updated.
* Data Type.
You can choose to export either application or process detail
data.
Either field--Application or Process--is dimmed (unavailable) if
no application or process detail data exists in the highlighted
logfile. Both fields are dimmed if neither data type exists in
the highlighted logfile.
* File Type.
The File Type option box is used to choose the format of the file
you are creating. You have two choices:
* Spreadsheet is the Lotus 1-2-3 format. HP LaserRX/MPE
assigns a .WKS extension for a spreadsheet file unless you
provide your own. HP LaserRX/MPE assigns variable cell
widths. Each cell is wide enough to hold the HP
LaserRX/MPE column-header, table entry, graph variable
value or name. The minimum cell width assigned is nine
characters.
* Data file is in ASCII file format. HP LaserRX/MPE will
assign a .DAT extension for a data file unless you provide
your own. This ASCII format is compatible with statistical
analysis programs such as SAS.
* Headings.
The Headings check box is used to designate that records
containing a title and column headings are written as the first
records in the file. (Applies to .DAT and .WKS files only.)
* Ignore Weekends.
If this is checked, weekends are excluded from the export.
* Dates.
This option defines the starting and stopping dates for the
export.
* Shift.
This option defines the HP LaserRX/MPE day.
* Available Logfiles.
The list box of open logfiles.
* Next.
If Process has been chosen under Data Type, the Next button is
enabled. The Next button accesses the Export Logfile Filters
dialog box. It allows you to graph a specific application, do a
Zoom Process, and then export the process detail data.
CAUTION Because of the large amount of data that may be formatted and
written to disc, exporting more data than an export window holds
can be an extremely time-consuming operation. See "Tips" .
