Installing and Managing HP ARPA File Transfer Protocol Network Manager's Guide
Before Starting FTP
Before starting the FTP monitor process, make sure the following has been
done:
* A loopback NI of type LOOP has been configured and started.
* The links have been started. This includes the LAN NI, any X.25
NIs as required by your installation, and the LOOP type NI. To
check the status of the links, issue NETCONTROL NI=niname;STATUS
commands for each configured NI, including the LOOP type NI.
* If you have the Network Services installed, start the services by
issuing an NSCONTROL START command. To check the status of the
Network Services, issue an NSCONTROL STATUS command.
Create FTP.SYS User
Next, create a new user (with passwords) called FTP.SYS to be used only
for starting the FTP monitor process. From the MPE/iX prompt enter:
:NEWUSER FTP.SYS;HOME=ARPA;PASS= ftppass;CAP=NM,NA,IA,BA,PM,PH
NM, NA, IA,BA, PM and PH user capabilities are required to start the FTP
monitor process.
Change the password in the file JFTPSTRT.ARPA.SYS to the password you
created for the new user FTP.SYS.
