HP ARPA File Transfer Protocol User's Guide
HP ARPA File Transfer Protocol
The HP ARPA File Transfer Protocol product (FTP) can be used with systems
supporting the ARPA FTP service such as other HP systems, UNIX systems,
and non-UNIX systems.
FTP is supported over IEEE 802.3 and de facto standard Ethernet local
area networks (LANs), and X.25 wide area networks.
FTP User (Client)
The MPE XL FTP user can perform the following tasks:
* Connect to a remote host system
* Transfer or delete single or multiple files
* Rename single files on the remote system
* List or change remote directories
* Perform ASCII or binary file transfers
* Change file attributes (using BUILD parameters) for files
transferred to the MPE XL system

FTP Server
Remote users accessing the MPE XL FTP server can perform the following
tasks:
* Establish a session on a remote MPE XL host system
* Transfer or delete single or multiple files
* Rename single files on the remote MPE XL system
* List remote MPE XL directories (groups)
* Perform ASCII or binary file transfers
* Change file attributes (using BUILD parameters) for files
transferred to the MPE XL system
Chapter 5, Using the FTP Server, provides remote non-MPE XL system users
information for accessing the MPE XL FTP server.
