DTC PAD Profiles
The following tables show the usable DTC PAD profiles and their
recommended usage. You must not use profiles 18, 45 and 50, even though
they are available. All other numbers are blocked, and cannot be
entered.
Table 4-6. Terminal PAD Profiles
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| Profile | Definition | Usage |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 1 | PAD Test Init | Default terminal profile. Does not need to be |
| | profile X.3 | entered in the CALL User Data. Direct replacement |
| | setting Data | for the "Terminal" device type of releases prior to |
| | Forward default | 12.0. Ensures backward compatibility with DTC 2.0 |
| | | to 10.5. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 5 | PAD Test Init | Used in data transfer. Recommended for more |
| | profile X.3 | performance of the Telnet path (X.29 SERVER profile |
| | setting Data | compatibility) or for iX character mode |
| | forward 3:127 | applications which need to send each character to |
| | | the host (for example, HPEDIT). The profile loads |
| | | the X.25 line with many, small packets each time |
| | | the application needs a termination character other |
| | | than CR. The PAD must support 3:127. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 9 | PAD Test Init | Used in data transfer. Recommended when you need |
| | profile X.3 | more performance in iX character mode applications |
| | setting Data | which need to send each character to the host. The |
| | forward 4:1 | profile loads the X.25 line with many, small |
| | | packets each time the application requires a |
| | | termination character other than CR. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 13 | PAD Test Init | Used in data transfer. Recommended for more |
| | profile X.3 | performance in iX for VPLUS mode (NS/PAD |
| | setting Data | compatibility) or for character mode applications |
| | forward 4:2 | which need to send few characters to the host. The |
| | | profile loads the X.25 line with many, small |
| | | packets each time the application requires a |
| | | termination character other than CR. The PAD must |
| | | support 4:2. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 17 | PAD Test Init | Used in data transfer. Recommended if you don't |
| | profile No X.3 | want to change the hardcoded initial profile set by |
| | setting Data | PAD Support when an application controls requires |
| | forward default | the setting of X.3 parameters other than echo, |
| | | break or flow control. The user must ensure that |
| | | the editing characters are <BS> (ASCII 8) for |
| | | backspace, and Control-X (ASCII24) for the line |
| | | delete character. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 33 | No PAD test Inet | Used at connection initialization. Recommended for |
| | profile X.3 | more performance at the connection initialization, |
| | setting Data | or if the PAD doesn't support the setting of |
| | forward default | multiple Set and Read, or isn't able to answer |
| | | during the "PAD Test" sequence in accordance with |
| | | X.29 recommendations. For example, for a PAD which |
| | | answers with an X.29 PAD error at a parameter |
| | | setting instead of setting the "error bit". The |
| | | PAD must support the X.3 setting needed by the |
| | | applications. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 35 | No PAD test No | Used at connection establishment. Recommended if |
| | init profile X.3 | the user wants to keep the profile set before |
| | setting Data | connection initialization. The PAD must support |
| | forward default | the X.3 setting needed by the applications. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 37 | No PAD test Init | Used at connection initialization and during data |
| | profile X.3 | transfer. The PAD must support the X.3 settings |
| | setting Data | required by the applications and the 3:127 data |
| | forward 3:127 | forwarding. The PAD must support the X.3 setting |
| | | needed by the applications. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 39 | No PAD test No | Used at connection establishment and during data |
| | init profile X.3 | transfer. Recommended if you want to combine |
| | setting Data | profiles 35 and 5. The PAD must support the X.3 |
| | forward 3:127 | settings needed by the applications and the 3:127 |
| | | data forwarding. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 41 | No PAD test No | Used at connection establishment and during data |
| | init profile X.3 | transfer. Recommended if you want to combine |
| | setting Data | profiles 33 and 9. The PAD must support the X.3 |
| | forward 4:1 | settings needed by the applications. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
| 43 | No PAD test No | Used at connection establishment and during data |

| | forward 4:1 | settings needed by the applications. |
| | | |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | | |
