Configuring and Managing Host-Based X.25 Links

Dynamic Reconfiguration

Dynamic reconfigurationprovides a means for a limited set of
configuration valuesto be downloaded to the DTC without the need to
impact users by resetting the DTC.

Some of the dynamically reconfigurable values are downloaded to and
affect the operation of a specific DTC/X.25 Network Access card. Only
X.25 values are downloaded when the RC function is used and the RECONF
optionis X25. Both X.25 and PAD support values are downloaded when the
RECONF option is CARD.

Other dynamically reconfigurable values are downloaded to and affect the
operation of the DTC itself. These "global" values are downloaded if the
RC function is used and the RECONF option is ALL or if no RECONF option
is specified (the default). The ALL option downloads values to the
specified DTC/ X.25 Network Access card as well.

Two other RECONF options, PASS and LOGCL, can also be used when the
DTCCNTRL function is RC. These options allow you to modify the PAD access
password and the X.25 logging class, respectively.

In most cases, X.25 and, if appropriate, PAD services must be active
before you use the RC function to download configuration parameters. The
exceptions are the PAD access password (RECONF=PASS) and Enable logging
class (RECONF=LOGCL), which may be downloaded regardless of whether or
not X.25 or PAD services are active.
