Configuring and Managing Host-Based X.25 Links

Overview of DTCCNTRL Operation

The DTCCNTRL commandallows you to perform the following functions:

   * Start support for X.25 through the STARTX25 or STARTBOTH
functions. (STARTBOTH starts PAD services as well.)

   * Start support for PAD services through the STARTPADSUP function,
if X.25 services are already started, or through the STARTBOTH
function if X.25 services have not yet been started.

   * Stop support for X.25 through the STOPX25 function or, if PAD
support is also active, the STOPBOTH function.

   * Stop support for PAD services through the STOPPADSUP function
(X.25 services will remain active) or the STOPBOTH function.

   * Cause reconfigured values for specified DTC configuration
parameters to be downloaded to the DTC without the need to restart
the system or the DTC. Use the RC function with an appropriate
       RECONF option specified.

   * Obtain status information on the operation of X.25 and PAD support
for a given DTC through the use of the STATUS function.

It is possible to force the operation of a DTCCNTRL command even if
another user has exclusive access to the DTCCNTRLcode. (For example,
perhaps another user is performing diagnostics by running the TermDSM
utility from a different terminal.) To force operation, you need to
specify the FORCED option in the syntax of the command.

All DTCCNTRL commands and command options may be entered in either upper
or lower case.

DTCCNTRL is used in conjunction with the NS NETCONTROL and NSCONTROL
commands to start and stop X.25 iX System Access and NS Services.
Examples of starting X.25 iX System Access are found later in this
chapter.
