HP DeskManager Customization
$TAG
Syntax
$TAG <page>
where:
<page> is the page number range of the tag pages to be
included at this point.
Description
$TAG inserts text or menu options into an existing help page. A tag page
is a page that will be automatically appended to an existing installed
help page. Tag pages are useful for updating existing help pages with
additional information without the need to repeatedly remove, edit and
re-install those pages.
The existing page must be edited to include the $TAG directive at the
point where the extension page is to be referenced. The directive must
be followed by a number. The number specifies that all extension pages
up to and including that number, starting from zero or the last extension
page appended, are to append at that point. This is providing that tag
pages in the range have already been installed for the help page. If
more than one $TAG directive appears in a page definition then HP Desk
includes at that point only those pages that have not already been
included.
All tag page numbers should end in 9 (for example 59, 209) as
Hewlett-Packard guarantees not to use tag page numbers terminating in a
9.
A tag page must be created using a page definition header of the form:
$IDNONHP <page no>,<tagpage>
<page no> is the number of the installed help page to which the <tagpage>
will be appended. Having created a tag page with a header as shown
above, it should be installed using the INSTALL command in the usual way.
You do not need to install a keyword to reference a tag page because all
tag pages are referenced from existing pages.
If appending information to the end of an existing page is sufficient, it
is not necessary to place $TAG directives in a page.
Example
$IDNONHP 9427, "Using the expense report form"
.
$TAG 59
.
$TAG 109
.
The first $TAG ($TAG 59) would include any tag pages that have been
installed for the help page in the range 1 to 59. If no tag pages in
this range have been installed the "$TAG 59" will have no effect. The
installation headers for three possible tag pages 29, 39 and 79, are
shown below.
$IDNONHP 9427,29
.
$IDNONHP 9427,39
.
$IDNONHP 9427,79
.
The second $TAG ($TAG 109) would include any tag pages that have been
installed for the help page in the range 60 to 109. If no tag pages in
this range have been installed the $TAG 109 will have no effect.
So, after installing tag pages 29, 39 and 79, page 9427 when accessed
will look like:-
$IDNONHP 9427 "Using the expense report form"
.
.
.....text of tag page 29
.
.
.....text of tag page 39
.
.
$TAG 59
.
.
.....text of tag page 79
.
.
$TAG 109
.
.
Note that by specifying a $TAG 999, you can ensure all extension pages
are applied at this point, in numerical order, without having to put in a
$TAG directive for each file.
