$SONS

Syntax

$SONS <page> [,<page>][,<page>][,<page>]......

where:

<page> is the number of the help page that is to be
                      included in the menu.

Description

The $SONS directive is used to build selection menus of help pages to
guide a user to the help that help he needs. It points from a menu to a
sub-menu or text page. The directive must be followed by the
identifier(s) of the son page(s). To carry the list of identifiers onto
another record, start the next record with $SONS and just continue the
list. Several page numbers can appear in a $SONS directive separated by
commas. If more pages than can be fitted on one line are needed in the
menu, two or more $SONS directive lines can be used. The help system
uses these directives not only to link pages, but also to pull in the
description of each option in a menu.

Since help pages are installed with User Capability Group control, the
menus that result from the use of the $SONS directive on a page are built
up dynamically at run time by HP Desk. Only those pages in the list of
sons to which the user has access will be included in the menu. The menu
is built up using the subject of the $ID or the $IDNONHP field in the son
page definition. If the $TITLE directive has been used instead of
including a subject in the $ID or $IDNONHP directive, the page subject
will appear as a blank option.

Help pages that are sons may themselves contain $SONS directives. In
this way, large "trees" of help menus may be created to quickly guide a
user to the help he requires.

Any help text that appears after the $SONS directive in a help page will
be displayed before the son page options are listed.

     $SONS 9101,9201,9301,9401
