Setting up Automated Routed Message Processing
There are a number of things that you should take into consideration when
automating the process of routing and authorizing messages within HP
Desk.
NOTE The Routing and Authorization capability is only available with HP
DeskManagerPLUS.
Initiating Routed Messages
If users are regularly repeating an approval process, (for example, the
automatic authorization of purchasing requests) they may be automated
within HP Desk by installing user interface scripts system-wide. The
scripts may be written so that they perform any number of tasks, possibly
integrating with other features within HP Desk, but ultimately they will
involve the use of the ROUTE or ROUTEFORM commands.
NOTE Neither the HP Desk Intrinsics or FSC interface can currently be
used to initiate routed messages.
Processing Fully Approved Messages
It may make sense to automate the processing of the approved message.
This may be done for example, if an approval process is frequently used
and the results are delivered to common recipients. This is best done by
the HP Desk User Intrinsics, as they provide access to detailed
information such as whether the message is genuine, whether it is fully
approved, and who has participated in the approval process. For a full
explanation of the User Intrinsics refer to HP DeskManager Intrinsics.
It is possible to use scripts or FSC to process fully approved messages,
however it is not recommended since the information that is executable is
comparatively limited.
Note, too that it is not currently possible to extend the approval
process to mail systems other than HP Desk.
