HP DeskManager User Reference Guide

Starting HP Desk 

HP Desk consists of twelve numbered areas.  These areas are named after
equivalent areas of your own office desk.  For example, in HP Desk there
is an In Tray, an Out Tray and a Filing Cabinet.  These areas have
related numbers.  The area name or number can be used as a command when
you are working in HP Desk.

The Main Menu Screen To sign on: 1. Log on to the HP 3000, and at the colon prompt (:) type: HPDESK Return 2. HP Desk asks for your name. Type your name and press Return If you change your mind and want to return to the HP 3000 colon prompt type: // Return You may have a password set up. If so, HP Desk asks you to type this in. HP Desk then displays the main menu. To sign on: a shortcut A quicker way of signing on is to enter all the information that HP Desk prompts you for on one line. 1. At the HP 3000 colon prompt enter HPDESK, the HP Desk area you want and your name. For example: :HPDESK 1 WHARTON Return 2. HP Desk will then prompt you to enter your password. 3. When you have entered your password HP Desk takes you straight into the area you requested.
