Setting Up Your Filing Cabinet

It will save you time if you design a useful filing structure before you
start storing items in your Filing Cabinet.

If you list the areas of your work that are important to you this will
help you identify useful names for folders. If you have developed naming
conventions for your current filing system you could model your
electronic Filing Cabinet on it.

You can create as many folders as you need and then copy other HP Desk
items, such as messages, packages and documents, into these folders. You
can also create folders within folders. Here is an example structure:

   *   Company
          *   Results
          *   Plans
          *   Organization

   *   Product
          *   Specifications
          *   Marketing
          *   Training

   *   Personal
          *   Appraisals
          *   General

Once you have drawn out a structure of folders you are ready to start
creating folders. See Chapter 7 Filing Your Work.
