HP VPLUS/Windows Programmer's Guide

Preparing a PC for Network Access to the HP 3000

Preparing a PC for network access consists of:

 *  Loading the network.
 *  Configuring communications circuits.

Loading the Network

After a PC is physically connected to a LAN, you must configure and load
the HP OfficeShare network software before the user can start Microsoft
Windows and the VPLUS/Windows presentation server. You can load the
software by manually running the HP OfficeShare program USRLOAD.
Alternatively, you can include USRLOAD in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file on the
PC.

Refer to the HP OfficeShare Network User's Guide (50923-90000) for more
information about configuring and loading the network.

Configuring Communications Circuits

VPLUS/Windows requires one network circuit for each remote VPLUS
application that a user starts from a PC. Each circuit requires
approximately 3 Kbytes of PC memory.

To run multiple HP 3000 VPLUS applications from a PC, you must configure
the proper number of circuits. In many cases, you will have to add
additional circuits. For example, if a PC is currently configured for
five circuits and you want to run four additional VPLUS/Windows
applications, you must add four circuits.

You can run the HP OfficeShare user configuration utility, USRCONFG, and
use its Tuning Menu to configure additional circuits. Refer to the HP
OfficeShare Network PC Workstation Configuration Guide for LANs
(50929-90001) for further information about configuring additional
circuits.
