Native Mode Spooler Reference Manual

Spool Files and HFS

By default, spool files are created and maintained ONLY in the OUT and IN
groups of the HPSPOOL account (OUT for output spool files and IN for
input spool files).
[REV BEG]

You may copy spool files into a hierarchical file structure (HFS).
Copying a file in this way unlinks the resulting copy from the spooling
subsystem but does not affect the original file. You cannot rename a
spool file into a hierarchical file structure (HFS). Refer to MPE/iX
Commands Reference Manual Volumes 1 and 2 (32650-90003 and 32650-90364)
for more information on HFS.[REV END]

Exercise caution when accessing or manipulating spool files through any
HFS-related command, command option, or intrinsic.
