Controlling System Activity

Printing Headers and Trailers

Headers and trailers contain information that appears before and after a
file, but which is not part of the file's text. They identify the file
by session number, output spoolfile number, session name (if any), user,
and account. They also list the date and time the file was printed.

The default condition for printing headers and trailers is ON. Header and
trailer printing is turned off with the command HEADOFF, and turned on
with the command HEADON. If a header has already been printed when
HEADOFF is entered, the trailer for the file being printed will also be
printed. The HEADOFF command will then turn off header and trailer
printing for all subsequent files.

The HEADOFF Command

The HEADOFF command turns off header and trailer output to an output
device.

If the device is in use and a header has already printed, the request is
satisfied after the associated trailer is printed.
