Refusing Sessions and Jobs on a Device

The REFUSE command is issued from the system console to prevent users
from running jobs, sessions, or sending data (see the next note in this
chapter) on a designated device. To determine the current status of
LDEV35, enter:

     SHOWDEV 35

The system displays:
_____________________________________________________________________

     LDEV AVAIL OWNERSHIP VOLID

     35 AVAIL

_____________________________________________________________________

AVAIL indicates that the device is online as a real, nonshareable device.
"A" indicates that it can accept jobs and data.

To prevent jobs from running on logical device number 35, enter:

     REFUSE 35

Confirm the status of the device by entering:

     SHOWDEV 35

The system displays:
________________________________________________________________________

LDEV AVAIL OWNERSHIP VOLID

35 AVAIL

________________________________________________________________________

Note that the "A" is no longer displayed. Although the device is still
online and available, it will no longer accept jobs and data.
