REAL*4 Statement (Nonexecutable) 

The REAL*4 statement, which is an extension to the ANSI 77 standard, is a
special case of the REAL statement.  See "REAL Statement (Nonexecutable)"
 for details.  The REAL*4 statement is equivalent to the REAL
statement.
