Interleave Format Tapes 

The only difference between interleave format and any other store tape
format is the order of the files on the tape does not necessarily
correspond with the order of the files in the media directory.  In
addition, file data records are interleaved with records from multiple
files.

Figure C-4  illustrates the interleave tape format.
