Appendix B Diagnostic Messages
This appendix discusses Silhouette diagnostic messages. Diagnostic
messages provide information about the state of system components during
execution of the >START command and operation of the duplication process.
Refer to Appendix A, "Error Messages" for information on messages that
might appear following these diagnostic messages. If a diagnostic
message is not followed by an error message, it is merely informing you
of the course of events occurring during the operation of the >START
command.
The diagnostic messages are designed to inform you about where events are
occurring. The diagnostic messages are broken into the following five
categories based on the system processes involved:
* Requests to the Communication Process (CP) from the Manager Program
(MP).
* Requests to the Recovery Process (RP) from the Manager Program (MP).
* Requests to the Secondary Communication Process (SP) from the
Communication Process (CP).
* Communication Process (CP) states.
* Requests to the Recovery Process (RP) from the Secondary
Communication Process (SP).
Due to internal program limitations, diagnostic messages are restricted
to a maximum of 20 characters. For this reason, contractions have been
used to allow the relevant text to fit the space available.
