Silhouette Reference Manual
Function Error Messages
The following error messages are concerned with Silhouette functions.
0001 MESSAGE A backup request is already pending. (RQWARN 1)
CAUSE An outstanding backup transaction is waiting to complete.
ACTION Do not request a backup when there is already one pending.

0002 MESSAGE Bad checksum = different configuration used. (RQERR 2)
CAUSE The wrong configuration file has been specified.
ACTION Supply correct name of configuration file.

0003 MESSAGE Recovery Process internal trans'tab broken. (RQERR 3)
CAUSE The RP has a bad internal table.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0004 MESSAGE Not all requested databases were opened. (RQERR 4)
CAUSE The RP could not open all the databases specified in the
configuration file.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0005 MESSAGE Error accessing the Command msg file. (RQERR 5)
CAUSE There was a file system error in accessing the COMMANDS pipe
file.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0006 MESSAGE Data compare error between the two logfiles. (RQERR 6)
CAUSE The RP has detected a database inconsistency.
ACTION Determine cause of inconsistency then synchronize databases,
logfiles, and SAVE file before restarting Silhouette.

0007 MESSAGE Error accessing the data msg file. (RQERR 7)
CAUSE The secondary system or RP had a file system error accessing
the data pipe file.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0008 MESSAGE DS PTOP error on primary program (CP). (RQERR 8)
CAUSE The CP encountered a PTOP error.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0009 MESSAGE There are no remaining DS lines available. (RQWARN 9)
CAUSE The last DS line is out of use.
ACTION When a DS line becomes available try again.

0010 MESSAGE No Recovery Process on the secondary computer. (RQWARN 10)
CAUSE There was no reply to a heartbeat.
ACTION Check for RP jobstream on secondary system. Determine cause
of error in $STDLIST spoolfile.

0011 MESSAGE IMAGE database intrinsic error on secondary. (RQERR 11)
CAUSE The RP got a DB status not equal to zero.
ACTION See the RP job stream for more information.

0012 MESSAGE The requested DS line is already in use. (RQMSG 12)
CAUSE The >USE command cannot open a line which is already open.
ACTION No action is required.

0013 MESSAGE The requested command is not allowed here. (RQWARN 13)
CAUSE The >SWITCH command is not permitted on the primary system
and is nearly the only command allowed on the secondary
system.
ACTION Only enter the >SWITCH command on the secondary system.

0014 MESSAGE Error accessing the User Logging file. (RQERR 14)
CAUSE There was a logging system error.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0015 MESSAGE Error executing the OPENLOG intrinsic. (RQERR 15)
CAUSE The CP could not open the logfile.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0016 MESSAGE Internal error getting logging status. (RQERR 16)
CAUSE A log status request from the CP failed.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0017 MESSAGE There is no backup in progress at this time. (RQMSG 17)
CAUSE A >RESUME command was given when no >BACKUP or >STOP was
pending.
ACTION No action is required.

0018 MESSAGE No response to command/request issued. (RQERR 18)
CAUSE A request was not answered either by the RP or by the CP on
either system.
ACTION Check Silhouette system status.

0019 MESSAGE Recovery data pipe nnnhas records remaining. (RQMSG 19)
CAUSE This message is a diagnostic which under the current
implementation is not printed. Used for internal module
communication.
ACTION No action is required.

0020 MESSAGE The requested DS line is not in use. (RQMSG 20)
CAUSE The >RELEASE command cannot operate on a line which is not
active.
ACTION The DS line designated to be closed with the >RELEASE
command is not open. No action is required.

0021 MESSAGE A request is already in progress. (RQERR 21)
CAUSE The command pipe file is not empty. (Internal error.)
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0022 MESSAGE Error issuing POPEN intrinsic to start secondary CP. (RQERR
22)
CAUSE Cannot start the secondary CP.
ACTION See the job stream listing for more information.

0023 MESSAGE Error in PTOP master call. (RQERR 23)
CAUSE There was a PTOP error in the CP on the primary system.
ACTION See the job stream listing for more information.

0024 MESSAGE Error in issuing REMOTE HELLO command. (RQERR 24)
CAUSE The COMMAND intrinsic failed.
ACTION Check jobfence and session limit on secondary.

0025 MESSAGE Error accessing the RESPONSES file. (RQERR 25)
CAUSE There was a file system error reading from or writing to the
RESPONSES file.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0026 MESSAGE Error while restarting Silhouette DS line. (RQERR 26)
CAUSE The >RESUME command failed.
ACTION See the RP and CP job stream listings for more information.

0027 MESSAGE Error accessing the Save file on secondary. (RQERR 27)
CAUSE Could not open or read the SAVE file.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0028 MESSAGE Record number mismatch in database or logfile. (RQERR 28)
CAUSE A DBPUT on a detail record detected a database mismatch.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0029 MESSAGE Unsuccessful attempt to start up Silhouette. (RQERR 29)
CAUSE A START failed. Reasons precede this line.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0030 MESSAGE Could not Stream the file to start CP or RP. (RQERR 30)
CAUSE An MPE COMMAND intrinsic failed.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0031 MESSAGE Error writing to $OLDPASS for stream file. (RQERR 31)
CAUSE An MPE error occurred in constructing the stream file text.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0032 MESSAGE Unable to communicate with Tape Process. (RQERR 32)
CAUSE There was file system error accessing the TP.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0033 MESSAGE WRITELOG intrinsic returned an error. (RQERR 33)
CAUSE There was a logging system error.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0034 MESSAGE Number of DS lines opened = nnn. (RQMSG 34)
CAUSE This specifies the number of DS line opens which were
successful.
ACTION No action is required.

0035 MESSAGE No DS lines could be opened. (RQWARN 35)
CAUSE No DS line opens were successful.
ACTION Check the status of the communication lines.

0036 MESSAGE Secondary system was not suspended for backup. (RQMSG 36)
CAUSE The >RESUME command was issued when no backup was pending or
completed.
ACTION Review operational procedures. Issue >STATUS command to
check flags on secondary.

0037 MESSAGE Stop pending on transaction(s) in progress. (RQMSG 37)
CAUSE The secondary system is looking for a quiet period to stop.
ACTION No action is required. Wait patiently.

0038 MESSAGE Backup pending on outstanding transactions. (RQMSG 38)
CAUSE The secondary system is looking for a quiet period to begin
backup.
ACTION No action is required. Wait patiently.

0039 MESSAGE SAVE file indicates bad database. (RQERR 39)
CAUSE The secondary database is corrupt. See RPERR 12.
ACTION Follow secondary system major failure recovery procedures.

0040 MESSAGE Incompatible SAVE file version. (RQERR 40)
CAUSE The SAVE file being used on the secondary is from an older
version of Silhouette.
ACTION When updating to A.01.00, or later, from any previous
versions, start a new log cycle.

0041 MESSAGE Target process QUIT, see parameter. (RQERR 41)
CAUSE Internal error; encountered a fatal error.
ACTION Check listing for previous messages.

0042 MESSAGE U-MIT Logfile sequence no. on non U-MIT. (RQERR 42)
CAUSE The user backdated MPE without purging the SAVE file.
ACTION Start new log cycle when backdating.

0043 MESSAGE LOGINFO call failure while opening logfile. (RQERR 43)
CAUSE Couldn't complete logfile open.
ACTION Check listing to determine error.

0044 MESSAGE Out-of-sequence Logfile sequence number. (RQERR 44)
CAUSE The log cycle was incorrectly started, or the SAVE file was
not changed with new log cycle, creating a restart sequence
number greater than the current sequence number.
ACTION A new log cycle was started with an old SAVE file. Purge
the old SAVE file and restart. See CPERR 50.

0045 MESSAGE Logfile name doesn't end in 3 digits. (RQERR 45)
CAUSE CHANGELOG requires special file names.
ACTION Check the TurboIMAGE Manual for user logging information and
ensure configuration has correct logfile name.

0046 MESSAGE Out-of-sequence log record or file. (RQERR 46)
CAUSE The logfiles on the primary and secondary are not identical
or the starting log record number is greater than the
current maximum log record number.
ACTION Check operational procedures when starting a new log cycle
for the secondary.

0047 MESSAGE Logfile open not successful. (RQERR 47)
CAUSE The logfile was not opened successfully.
ACTION A new log cycle was started with an old SAVE file. Purge
the old SAVE file and restart. See CPERR 50.

0048 MESSAGE REMOTE HELLO warning: CIWARN=nnn. (RQWARN 48)
CAUSE Non-fatal error in REMOTE definition in configuration file.
ACTION Examine CI errors and configuration file to determine cause.

0049 MESSAGE Command not allowed - check status. (RQWARN 49)
CAUSE While RP is recovering its tables, certain MP commands are
not allowed. See RPMSG 82.
ACTION No action is required. Allow operation to complete.

0050 MESSAGE Converting old SAVE file version. (RQWARN 50)
CAUSE Previous or backup SAVE file corresponds to old Silhouette
version. This requires a conversion of formats. Old SAVE
file is renamed to ZAVE file.
ACTION No action is required.

0070 MESSAGE Parameter returned by above error: nnn. (CPERR 70)
CAUSE Informs user of the error number.
ACTION Refer to preceding error message output by system.

0075 MESSAGE Parameter returned by above error: nnn. (RPERR 75)
CAUSE This returns an error diagnostic for any secondary CP error
on a request from the RP.
ACTION Refer to preceding error message output by system.
