Figure 4-4. RJE Configuration: RemoteID Screen The ID sequence functions as a security check. When a connection is established between your HP 3000 and a remote HP 3000 or host, the local ID sequence configured in the RJE Configuration: Linkdata screen is transmitted to the remote system. The remote system responds by transmitting its ID sequence (the remote ID sequence) to the HP 3000. The ID sequence received from the remote computer is compared against the remote ID sequences on this screen. If there is a match, the connection is accepted and RJE/XL grants you access to the communications line. If the ID sequence received at either end of the line is not configured, the RJIN or RJOUT command will fail. If no remote IDs sequences are configured then no ID sequences are expected from the remote computer; they are accepted and ignored if received. Fields Path For display only. The NMMGR branch you are in. It includes the name of the RJE/XL link you are configuring. Remote ID Optional. A string of up to 15 ASCII characters that Sequences identifies a particular computer. A maximum of 64 remote ID sequences may be configured. File For display only. The name of the configuration file.
