Operating Requirements for X.21 RJE supports access to X.21 networks. X.21 is a CCITT recommendation describing a general purpose interface between Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) and Data Communications Equipment (DCE) for synchronous operation on Public Data Networks. X.21 combines modem and autodial functions in a single interface between the computer, the terminal or DTE on one side of a communications link and carrier, network or DCE on the other. X.21 replaces V.21/RS-232C, RS-449 or V.35 and V.25/RS-366 as the DTE to DCE interface.
