COMMUNICATOR 3000 MPE MPE/iX RELEASE 4.5
HP GlancePlus for MPE/iX:Performance and POSIX
by Mel Eelkema
Software Technology Division
The latest version of GlancePlus offers better performance than ever
before along with POSIX file name compliance.
PERFORMANCE
GlancePlus for MPE/iX offers better performance than ever before!
Customer testing has shown 10 to 50 percent reductions in the CPU used by
GlancePlus in this version (B.05.02) versus previous versions (B.0n.01).
Migrating from a version with 01 as the fix number to a version with 02
as the fix number yields a performance improvement in GlancePlus with no
reduction in functionality.
POSIX FILE NAME COMPLIANCE
POSIX file names may now be entered in the Users (U) command in order to
request a display of the users of a POSIX file. The POSIX file name can
be entered as a fully qualified name like /SYS/PUB/GLANC000 or a relative
path name like ./GLANC000.
The Display Files command or function key in the Process screen list both
MPE and POSIX file names. Files are displayed as MPE type files where
possible. The length of a POSIX file name can exceed that of a standard
MPE file name. If the full file name and path name is greater than the
26 characters allowed for a standard MPE file name, GlancePlus displays
the file name preceeded by as many directories possible. When
the full path is not displayed it is preceeded by three dots
(.../PERFTOOLS/DIAG/GLANCE).
