MPE/iX Release 4.5 Disk Space Requirements

Enhancements included in MPE/iX Release 4.5 have increased the disk space
required for a system installation or update. Before proceeding with an
MPE/iX Release 4.5 installation or update, you should check to be sure
that you have sufficient space on the system.
To determine the additional disk space you will need for MPE/iX Release
4.5, you need to compare the MPE/iX Release 4.5 disk space requirements
with the disk space requirements for your current release. The following
table lists the approximate amount of disk space (in sectors) required
for MPE/iX Release 4.5 and several past releases. It displays the size
of the SLT only; the SLT and FOS; and the SLT, FOS, and all subsystem
products. You will need to estimate your disk space requirements based
on the number and kind of software subsystem products purchased.

For example, if your system is currently running XL Release 3.1 and you
are considering an update to MPE/iX Release 4.5, you need to determine
how much additional disk space is required by the operating system. By
subtracting the disk space required for XL Release 3.1 from that required
by MPE/iX Release 4.5, you can determine that you need a minimum of
339,600 additional sectors (for the SLT and FOS increases) up to a
maximum of 926,700 additional sectors (for all SUBSYS, SLT, and FOS
increases). You can estimate how much space you need depending on the
number of subsystem products you have.
