COMMUNICATOR 3000 MPE MPE/iX RELEASE 4.0

NRJE/XL Special Installation Instructions

NRJE/XL on MPE/iX Release 4.0 is enhanced to support the increased job
numbering capabilities of JES2/JES3 version 3 and later.  NRJE/XL now
supports five-digit job numbers from the IBM host.

In addition, NRJE/XL has also been expanded to accommodate the larger
spoolfile numbers allowed by the MPE/iX native mode spooler.  NRJE/XL is
now able to support MPE/iX spoolfile ids up to a full seven digits (in
other words, maximum of 9999999).


NOTE  To allow for these changes, the structure of the NRJE job log has
      been changed.  The result is that all job logs created prior to
      MPE/iX Release 4.0 are not compatible with the new version of
      NRJE/XL.

      ** SPECIAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS **

      Prior to updating to MPE/iX Release 4.0, customers should ensure
      that all necessary information contained within the job log is
      recorded.  When this information has been saved, they must purge
      both the old job log file and its associated key file.  NRJE/XL on
      MPE/iX Release 4.0 will not operate correctly if these files are
      not deleted before attempting to run NRJE/XL. Any information
      remaining in the old job log is inaccessible by the new version of
      NRJE/XL.
