COMMUNICATOR 3000 MPE MPE/iX RELEASE 4.0

New Look for MPE/iX Documentation

by Linda Runyan
Commercial Systems Division

This release of MPE/iX marks the first phase to migrate the MPE/iX
manuals to the Hewlett-Packard new manual binding standards.

If you are a long-time Hewlett-Packard customer, you will notice that
most of the manuals that previously arrived at your site in brown or blue
bindings, are now in gray, multi-toned bindings.

In addition, MPE/iX manuals now have a saddlestitch or layflat binding,
rather than looseleaf binders. This move to new bindings has allowed
Hewlett-Packard to cut documentation manufacturing costs and transfer the
savings to you.

NEW EDITIONS ONLY

Along with the new appearance of the manuals, there is a new
documentation policy: no more manual updates. What does this mean to
you? When you receive a manual from your subscription service, simply
discard the old manual and replace it with the one you received. The new
manual is a new edition, which contains all of the new information for
the release. You no longer need to insert pages into old manuals.

If you are an Hewlett-Packard LaserROM customer, you receive the latest
editions of MPE/iX manuals on a monthly basis.

WHAT ELSE IS NEW?

In response to feedback from our MPE/iX customers, MPE/iX documentation
tables of contents and indexes have been improved to help you locate
information quickly.

NEED MORE INFORMATION?

If you need detailed descriptions about the contents or history of any of
the manuals that are shipped with the MPE/iX operating system, refer to
the MPE/iX Documentation Guide (32650-90144).
