Mail Queue Status
The Mail Queue Status check provides the ability for DeskMon to check and
report whether mail (in the Urgent, Normal, and Deferred queues) destined
for a particular computer or gateway has exceeded pre-defined backlog
limits for age or quantity.
* To see a list of the queues currently being checked, press OTHER
KEYS F7 and LIST F2.
* To add a queue to the list, complete the screen form and press ADD
F2.
* To modify an entry in the list, get the entry by typing the
computer name and pressing GET F5. Change the details on the
screen and then press MODIFY F6).
* To delete a queue from the list, get the entry by typing the
computer name and pressing GET F5. Then press DELETE F3.
The fields on the screen are as follows:
Computer
The name of the computer or gateway for which outstanding mail is to be
checked. Note that these are computer or gateway names, not mailnode
names.
A computer name of ******** is equivalent to specifying the name of the
default and secondary default routing computers or gateways.
Maximum outstanding Mail
For each of the fields (Urgent, Normal, and Deferred), enter the maximum
number of messages for each queue that can be outstanding before DeskMon
will send notification. For example, if you want to be notified if more
than 5 urgent messages are waiting to go to, then enter a value of 5 for
the urgent queue.
For the All Queues field, enter a value for the maximum total number of
messages which can be outstanding for the particular computer or gateway
before DeskMon will send notification. For example, you have a maximum
of 5 urgent messages, 10 normal messages, and 1 deferred message, but you
want DeskMon to notify you if you have more than 10 messages in total
which are outstanding, you would enter 10 in the All Queues field.
Oldest message
For each of the fields (Urgent, Normal, Deferred), specify a maximum age
(in hours and minutes) for the oldest message waiting to go to the
particular computer or gateway after which DeskMon will send
notification.
Check
If you want DeskMon to check outstanding mail for this computer or
gateway, type Y. If you want to turn off checks for outstanding mail on
this computer or gateway, type N .
Report to
The Report Category to which you want DeskMon to report when it finds
that the maximum age or outstanding mail limits are exceeded.
An error message is generated and sent to the specified Report Category
if:
* The number of messages in any of the categories (Urgent, Normal,
Deferred, All Queues) exceeds the limit specified for that
particular computer or gateway; or
* The age of the oldest message in a category (Urgent, Normal,
Deferred) exceeds the limit specified for that category.
